Welcome to our Bridge Club
Events and Latest News
Following a strong recommendation from NZBridge and with the uncertainties surrounding the spread of Covid -19 the Committee have decided that the Club will close with effect from Monday 23 March 2020.
We will be playing our last session tomorrow (Friday) but attendance is entirely your choice so please liaise with your planned partner.
At this stage, we will be closed until after Easter.
NZBridge are re-assessing the situation on April 9 and we will await their updated advice at that time.
Rest assured that we will keep you as fully informed as possible.
I hope you and your families stay safe at this difficult time and that we can all come back to bridge fit and fully recharged in the not too distant future.

Don’t come to bridge if you are unwell, or have been in close contact with someone who is unwell.
If someone in your family has just returned from overseas we strongly recommend that you don’t come to bridge for 14 days after the date of their return.
In particular, because the early symptoms of infection with the coronavirus are the same as a cold, do not come to bridge if you have a cold.
The directors / convenors have the power to send members home if they appear to be unwell.
The coronavirus spreads the same way as the cold viruses spread. By coughs, sneezes, and by touching an object or surface with viral particles on it, and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
Hygiene when playing
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, or you can cough or sneeze into your sleeve
If you are worried about contamination wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use the hand - sanitizer.
Hamilton Intermediate and Junior Tournament
In the Intermediate group of 20 pairs, Jacques Richard and Christine Judd came 3rd in session 2 and finished a very good 5th overall, beating the winners of the previous week's Taupo Tournament. This was the first time playing together at a tournament.
Taking part in the first round of the Waikato / Bays Junior League of 26 pairs, Taupo players came away with some very good results.
Chris Younger & Helen Younger 1st N/S in session 2 and 16th overall.
Christine Knowles & Lauren Lehndorf 1st E/W in session 2 and 5th overall.
Rachel Young(Putaruru) & Heather Dickie finished 10th overall.
Bayley's Intermediate 5B Tournament
The tournament held on Saturday 29th February and sponsored by Bayley's Taupo was once again popular and drew a good attendance with 13 tables filled. Local members welcomed players from far afield as Thames to New Plymouth and many of the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Clubs. Congratulations to Carol Crowfoot and Sabrina Peters from Thames who won the tournament for the second year in a row.

Welcome to Bridge 2020. Sessions start on January 6th for Summer Bridge through out January.
Changes for 2020 Please check the links on the left for playing conditions for Monday and Wednesday.
Handicap sessions in 2020 from the start of February, the Wednesday night competitions will in the main be monthly ( 4 weeks) competitions based on Handicaps. This is suitable for players of all abilities. We encourage as many players as possible to participate in this new format.
Invitational Pairs This is the first Wednesday Handicap competition, starting at the beginning of February.
“The Invitational Pairs are to introduce more players to Wednesday nights. Wednesday evenings are fun, challenging and can improve your play by playing with and against different members playing different systems of Bridge. We encourage you to come along and enjoy Bridge with the regular Wednesday players”
Congratulations Estelle Davis and Patricia Tyler on becoming Open Players.
