GROUNDS WORKING BEE - What a great day, if a bit chilly, we had for the working bee. Many thanks to Jill, Martin, Prue, Jim, Jo, Alan, Eric, Colin and Lesley who turned up to help give our grounds a tidy up. Roses have been pruned and the bank and driveways have had a good cut back - two full trailor loads headed off to the rubbish dump. Hopefully we won't need to do such a big job again this year.

Bay of Plenty Interclub Teams Competition: On Sunday, three teams from the club - Junior, Intermediate and Open - played in the Bay of Plenty club teams competition against teams from Rotorua, Whakatane, Te Puke, Mount Maunganui and Tauranga clubs. It was heartening to see players as young as 12 and 14 years (half of Rotorua's Junior team) just starting on their bridge journey and doing very well against their more experienced opposition.
Our Intermediate and Junior teams were placed 3rd in their respective grades, just missing out on qualifying for the finals, with the Open team placed 5th. One unusual aspect of the day were the amount of slams and grand slams that were available to bid..... some were and some weren't, but that's bridge. Thank you to all who participated on the day and those who put their names forward to be included in the teams. Keen to improve your bridge?

Session for Junior Players only: Thursday 5 March, 9.30am -12noon.
We trialled this in 2025 but numbers dwindled as we got near the end of the year. We agreed to trial it again in March and April but we need at least four tables to make it worthwhile. It will be the first Thursday morning of the month and any junior players are welcome. It is an opportunity for our junior players to earn C points. You can come with or without a partner. Thank you to Christine Judd who has agreed to be the director for the sessions and to Denise Chisholm who will be the sub. |
