Contract bridge, or simply Bridge, is a trick taking game (like 500) using a standard 52 playing deck ( no joker ) It is played by four players in two competing partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other around a table. One pair is referred to as North/South and the other pair as East/West. Millions of people play bridge worldwide in clubs, online and with friends at home, making it one of the world's most popular card games. The game consists of many deals (hands), The important parts of each deal are Dealing the Cards, The Auction (called Bidding) to establish a contract, Playing cards to try and make your contract, and finally the Scoring. In club and tournament play the game is usually referred to as duplicate bridge. Here the cards are not re-dealt, but the same deal being played by two or more different sets of players to enable comparative scoring.
